"Teach them and help them to fall in love with Jesus and realize what an incredible, magnanimous God we serve."
QUESTION:
"How can I cultivate a love for God in my children?"
ANSWER:
Young parents often ask, "What book do you recommend that helped you raise your children?" There are so many good books around, but there is the Book that I used together with my wife in which we brought up our children—and that's the Word of God.
When you train your children in the Word of God, when you let the Word of God dwell in them richly, day after day after day, the Word of God is going to bring hunger in their hearts to receive Christ. And once they understand that obedience to Christ flows out of gratitude and thanksgiving—not because it's a duty—they will want to obey Jesus. So focus on that. Teach them and help them to fall in love with Jesus and realize what an incredible, magnanimous God we serve, who left heaven, camea to Earth, and died on a cross to redeem us. They will be filled with gratitude for His forgiveness, and they won't want to offend such a loving God.
