As youth across the nation make plans and decisions that will impact the trajectory of their lives and of our society, they desperately need our prayers.
Here are some important issues we can bring before the Lord on behalf of the next generation:
Heavenly Father, I lift up the next generation that is striving to develop an understanding of who they are.
WEEK 1: AN IDENTITY ROOTED IN TRUTH
Heavenly Father, I lift up the next generation that is striving to develop an understanding of who they are. Draw them to Christ, the only sure foundation. I pray against destructive forces that would lead them to set themselves up as their own source of identity. Give these young people wisdom to see that only their Creator has authority to reveal who they are—precious souls made in His image for His glory.
WEEK 2: BELIEVERS TO STAND FIRM IN FAITH
Heavenly Father, I pray for the professing Christians among our youth. Grant them an abiding faith in You grounded in solid, Biblical theology. Give them a deep understanding of Your Gospel and wisdom to apply it in the situations they will face as they experience increasing independence. May they have self-control, faithfulness, and courage, remembering that You are with them and will not forsake them. Help them to stand firm, putting on the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-17).
WEEK 3: DISCERNING TRUTH
Heavenly Father, as students attend classes, from preschool to graduate studies, I pray You would give them a discerning mind to reason well and seek Your Truth. Empower them to lay aside their prejudices about You and their sinful desires that keep them from You so that they might know You as You truly are. May they assess teachings rightly and turn to wise and godly adults for counsel.
WEEK 4: A WINSOME WITNESS
Heavenly Father, I pray that today’s young Christians would live righteous and holy lives for You. I ask that they would be faithful witnesses who bear fruit for Your Kingdom. May they so delight in knowing and obeying You that others are drawn to Christ, the reason they shine like stars among a warped and crooked generation (Philippians 2:15).
WEEK 5: A BIBLICALLY SOUND COMMUNITY
Heavenly Father, thank You for the church communities and ministries that are preparing the next generation to know, submit to, and share Your Truth. I pray that the next generation would commit to consistent fellowship within the body of Christ, faithfully seeking Your face alongside others who will spur them on to love and good deeds (Hebrews 10:24-25). Bring the next generation godly friendships to keep them on Your narrow road.
