Did you know? An audio version of today's devotional is available on Leading The Way's MY Devotional podcast

People who are worldly wise often try to disguise this worldly wisdom as God's wisdom. Worldly wisdom comes in the guise of spirituality or religion, but there is a vast difference between the wisdom of these false religions and that of true spirituality rooted in a relationship with Jesus Christ. God's wisdom is pure in motive, gentle, and merciful. It is not arrogant, boastful, harsh, or unforgiving. It does not create strife or division; it produces good fruit and blesses us. God's wisdom is always perfectly consistent with Scripture.

True wisdom brings glory to God.

Believers should seek God's wisdom in all things: seeking a spouse, bringing up children, settling conflicts in life, or starting any new venture. This wisdom is the ability to apply the Word of God accurately and correctly not only in the believer's life but also in the lives of others. Those with this gift can weigh a situation and receive spiritual insight into it.

True wisdom brings glory to God. Believers and nonbelievers alike will recognize God as the author of this wisdom when we exercise it according to His will. Pharaoh recognized Yahweh in Joseph's wisdom. Nebuchadnezzar recognized Jehovah through Daniel's wisdom. In Acts 6:10, the wisdom given to the apostle Stephen was striking. We are told that the Jewish leaders "could not stand up against the wisdom the Spirit gave him as he spoke."

Is it time you honored God by growing and maturing in His wisdom?

Prayer: Father, protect me from relying on any kind of wisdom other than Yours. Increase my ability to discern the Truth and apply it, that You may be glorified. I pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.

"Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil" (Proverbs 3:7).
