Whose Disciple?
Save for Later
When many people hear the word disciple, they think only of the twelve who followed Jesus during His earthly ministry. Yet according to the Word of God, every believer who confesses Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord is called to be His disciple and to make disciples of others. But what marks a true disciple of Christ? In this four-part series, Dr. Michael Youssef turns to the inerrant Scriptures to answer that urgent question. Through the teachings of Jesus, he reveals the Biblical marks of genuine discipleship: unwavering loyalty to Christ, supernatural love that reflects His heart, and a life that imitates His sacrificial mission. In a culture that rejects Truth, believers must repent of complacency, depend on the Holy Spirit, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel. True disciples follow Jesus, live like Jesus, and point a desperate world to the saving power of His cross.
Whose Disciple? (Part 1)
The Mark of a True Disciple
In this opening message of the series Whose Disciple?, Dr. Michael Youssef calls believers to examine whether they are truly disciples of Jesus Christ. Scripture teaches that a disciple is not merely a learner, but one who abides in the Word of God, obeys Christ as Lord, and imitates His life (John 8:31). True discipleship begins the moment a sinner repents and trusts in the saving work of Jesus, receiving the Holy Spirit and submitting to His authority. The Lord who possesses all authority in Heaven and on earth commands His followers to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19–20). In a culture that opposes Biblical Truth, believers must reject fear and complacency, stand firmly on the inerrant Word of God, and faithfully proclaim the Gospel so that others may repent and follow Christ.
